You gotta WORK at Teamwork

As the saying goes, teamwork makes the dream work. But if the team isn’t working, then the dream is going to remain just that.

Sometimes we get so used to working in a dysfunctional environment, just staying above the fray, that we forget things don’t have to be that way. We often become too tired and too run down to take a step back and evaluate what needs to change.

Does this sound like you?

If you work in a band or within a team of professionals and you feel nothing is getting accomplished or your voice is getting buried it’s time to take a step back.

Listen, I get it. Teamwork is HARD STUFF!

Compromise ain’t easy. After all, I work alone for a rea-zone!

However, there’s a lot to be said for working together. Not always getting your way is a GOOD thing – it allows you to grow & learn from other perspectives.

Like any relationship, you gotta put in the work.

If you’re the one slacking you’ve got to step it up. If you’re the one always picking up the pieces you’ve got to speak up!

Coming together is beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.Henry Ford

Communication is the key to any successful collaboration.

When it comes to the music industry, many teams & bands have been together for years and those intricate, intertwining histories can be extremely difficult to untangle & rework when needed.

I know the feeling. I’ve had the same group of friends since before junior high and when we get into it – we really get into it. Mixing that dynamic with business?! I’m sure you’ve experienced that pressure cooker a time or two.

You could keep going the way you’re going.

Or you could do something about it.

You could talk it out and get to the bottom of what’s holding you all back. But how do you do that without burning bridges or escalating emotions?

You often need an outside party to come in and take the emotion and baggage out of an equation to do what’s best for the group as a whole.

It also helps to have someone there (a trained professional, for example) routing each of you on to step up and be heard in a safe and trusting environment.

How I can help

Let’s Talk it out.

With TeaMediation I work with teams & bands (partnerships or large groups) to get to the core issues (in a private & confidential setting) each person is struggling with, and find common ground for the group as a whole to move forward.

My Masters in Psychology taught me a lot about group dynamics. Almost every day I find myself mediating some sort of situation. And 95% of the time it boils down to making sure each person is heard by the others.

Whether it’s between friends or people trying to collaborate on a project together – when emotions run high it can be difficult to truly hear what the other person is saying & things end up getting lost in translation.

And what’s more emotional & vulnerable than putting out music you wrote or debuting a new project you’ve poured your blood, sweat & tears into?

Having a professional around to walk you through the emotional minefields that have been building up over time allows you to walk through to the other side in a more confident manner.

What’s included

Can you afford not to speak up?

Here’s what you can expect from TeaMediation:

  3. 1-hour to meet as a group to discuss all sides & formulate solutions with a plan to move forward

You and your team will walk away feeling lighter, more focused, and more in sync than ever before.

Even if a member decides to keep their personal struggles & grievances within our private 1-on-1, the power is in the air-out, allowing them to move forward & remain open to a new approach for working together.

Beyond airing out frustrations, our time together will involve restructuring the group in a way that allows everyone to be heard. You will also all walk away with constructive ways to work as a more cohesive unit with useful tools to achieve common goals.

You’ve already lost your patience & your sanity. What else has to take a back seat before you take some real action to turn things around?
